Early Learning Center Substitute Teacher

Full-time Regular Beacon Hill

Salary Range: $24.00 To $33.00 Hourly

Full-Time Early Childhood Education Substitute Teacher | Multi-Site

- Pay:$24-$33 per hour Starting pay is based on a combination of applicable licensure or credentials, education, and years of relevant experience. Candidates who meet the basic eligibility requirements and have approximately 0-2 years of experience will generally be considered near the beginning of the range. Candidates with more extensive experience, advanced ECE education, and relevant licensure may be considered for placement in the higher portion of the range.
- Schedule: Full-time; 32 hours per week with the prospect to work up to 40 hours
- Location:ReWA's five Early Learning Centers in Seattle; each teacher will have an assigned home site
- Reports To:Early Learning Center Site Director

About the Role:

ReWA is seeking five Full-Time Early Childhood Education Substitute Teachers to provide classroom coverage and program support across all five ReWA Early Learning Centers. Each Substitute Teacher will have an assigned home site while remaining willing and able to work at any of ReWA's Early Learning Center locations based on program needs.

This role combines the variety of substitute teaching with the stability of a guaranteed weekly schedule. When substitute coverage is not needed at another location,



you will support your home site through classroom coverage and other assigned Early Childhood Education duties.

What You'll Do:

- Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children.
- Support developmentally appropriate learning experiences in literacy, numeracy, scientific inquiry, creativity, social-emotional development, and physical development.
- Use age-appropriate, inclusive communication that reflects children's learning styles, abilities, languages, and cultures.
- Support children's home languages and cultural identities while helping them build confidence and skills in the classroom.
- Assist with classroom setup, activities, transitions, meals, snacks, and daily routines.

Safety & Supervision

- Actively supervise children during classroom activities, transitions, hallway movement, mealtimes, and outdoor play while helping maintain required staffing ratios.
- Help maintain a clean, healthy, and safe classroom environment and inspect equipment and materials for safe use.
- Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, and behavioral concerns to the Site Coordinator or Program Director.
- Follow ReWA program policies, childcare licensing requirements, ECEAP and Step Ahead performance standards, National Accreditation Commission requirements, and applicable USDA meal guidelines.

Multi-Site & Team Support

- Travel to and work at any of ReWA's five Early Learning Center locations based on program coverage needs.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, volunteers, families, and other Early Childhood Education team members.
- When coverage is not needed at another center, provide classroom coverage and complete other assigned ECE duties at your home site.
- Maintain professionalism, flexibility, and teamwork while adapting to different classrooms, routines, and locations.
- Attend required meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.

Long-Term Substitute Assignments

- For extended assignments,



assist with lesson planning, child assessments, classroom documentation, and family-teacher conferences as needed.

What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications

- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Experience working or volunteering with children and the ability to contribute effectively as part of a classroom team.
- Ability to support varied, age-appropriate activities for children from different cultural, linguistic, and educational backgrounds.
- Willingness and ability to work at all five ReWA Early Learning Center locations based on program needs.
- Ability to meet federal and Washington State childcare health and safety requirements and maintain required credentials, including CPR and First Aid, CPS training, TB test clearance, and a current Food Worker Card.
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to lift at least 45 pounds and perform the physical responsibilities of the role.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while remaining flexible, professional, and child-centered.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in an early learning, childcare, preschool, Head Start, ECEAP, or similar educational setting.
- Experience in a multicultural or multilingual environment.
- Relevant Early Childhood Education coursework, certificate, Child Development Associate credential, degree, or childcare licensure.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills. Chinese, Vietnamese, Amharic, and Somali language skills are especially welcomed.
