Horse Transport Driver / Stablehand – Archibald Racing

Archibald Racing is seeking an experienced and reliable Horse Transport Driver / Stablehand to join our NSW team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong horse-handling skills and a minimum MR licence who is looking to work within a leading thoroughbred racing stable.

The successful applicant will be confident handling thoroughbreds, reliable and punctual, able to work independently as well as part of a team, and have a strong understanding of workplace health and safety.

The position will primarily focus on horse transport, however some general stable duties will also be required when needed.

Key Responsibilities

- Transport horses safely between Archibald Racing stables, paddocks, race meetings, barrier trials and other locations as required
- Safely load and unload horses
- Complete paddock transport and horse movements as required
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance, servicing, cleanliness and refuelling
- Liaise with trainers, forepersons and management regarding horse movements and transport requirements
- Strap horses at race meetings and barrier trials when required
- Assist with general stable duties when required, including:
- Hosing and washing horses
- Rugging
- Feeding
- Cleaning yards and stable areas
- General horse handling

Requirements

- Minimum MR truck licence,



or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement
- Strong horse-handling experience is essential
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
- Well presented and professional
- Comfortable working flexible schedule, including some early mornings and weekends
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong work ethic and ability to remain calm and organised in a busy racing environment
- Previous experience transporting thoroughbreds is highly regarded
- Previous raceday strapping and/or saddling experience is an advantage
- Experience using Prism is desirable but not essential

Position

- Full-time position
- Competitive remuneration based on experience
- Eligible employees may also participate in the 2% NSW Stablehand Bonus Scheme
- Approximately 5 days per week, with some weekend and raceday work required
- Shared staff accommodation may be available for the right applicant
