What's the story?

As a Library Support Officer,you'llbe the friendly face of Libraries ACT and often the first point of contact for our customers.You'llhelp create welcoming,inclusiveand vibrant library spaces while connecting people with the services,resourcesand programs they need.

You will:

- Deliver exceptional customer service and create positive experiences for all library visitors.
- Assist customers to access and use library resources, services and technology with confidence.
- Support the day-to-day operation of library branches, including shelving collections, processing returns and maintaining welcoming library spaces.
- Contribute to the delivery of library programs, events and community activities for people of all ages including early childhood.
- Respond professionally to customer enquiries, feedback and complaints.
- Work collaboratively across branches and adapt to changing priorities and operational needs.
- Support a secure setting for customers and staff, including assisting during emergency and evacuation situations when required.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:

- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra
- Experience in the Galleries, Libraries and Museum (GLAM) industry will be well regarded.

Note: There are several temporary positions available with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. Full‑timepositions work a rotating roster which includesat least two Saturdays per month.Part‑time positions work a roster that includes a combination of weekday shifts and most Saturdays, supporting operational requirements. Salary for part‑time positions will be paid on a pro‑ basis.



A Merit Pool will beestablishedfrom this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. This position is mobile, and position holders will routinely move between branches across the library network asrequired.Libraries ACToperatessix days a week across multiple locations. This position requires weekday and weekend shifts. varietyof full‑time and part‑time positions are available.

Applicants should note that a Joint Selection Committee (JSC) established in accordance with the collective/enterprise agreement provisions will assess all applications for this position.

Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the efficient administration of the service.
