An exciting opportunity is available for a Regional Engagement Coordinator in the NEVR Wellbeing and Engagement Branch. The Wellbeing and Engagement Branch comprises one of six branches in the Student Wellbeing and Engagement Division (SWED) in NEVR. The Regional Engagement Coordinator (REC) is a dedicated resource providing increased oversight to assist Victorian Government schools in complying legislative and department policy requirements when implementing student expulsion procedures.

About the role

An opportunity is available for a Regional Engagement Coordinator in the NEVR Wellbeing and Engagement Branch. The Wellbeing and Engagement Branch comprises one of six branches in the Student Wellbeing and Engagement Division (SWED) in NEVR. The other five branches are The Mental Health Branch, The School Inclusive Practice Branch, Disability Inclusion and Implementation Branch, The Lookout Centre and The Justice Education Branch.

This opportunity exists to join the North East Victoria Region as the Regional Engagement Coordinator (REC). This is a VPS 5.2 position and provides regional oversight and support for the implementation of Ministerial Order 1125, working closely with principals, school leadership teams, and area-based staff on complex student engagement and expulsion matters.

Reporting directly to the Wellbeing and Engagement Manager in SWED, the REC supports Principals with guidance and resources to ensure Principals understand the requirements of Ministerial Order 1125 for supensions and expulsions. The role is focused on supporting Principals to provide a consistent and coherent approach to the implementation of Min Order 1125. As part of this the REC:





- Assists Principals to establish Behaviour Support Intervention Meetings so that student interventions and supports that can be considered and implemented.
- Coordinates the Regional Appointed Support Person training and allocation to BSIM's as required.
- Provides coordination oversight for the Executive Director of Area for any Expulsion Appeals.
- Monitors student transitions to new schools and escape any placement delays to schools and Area based teams.
- The REC is required to work collaboratively with other regional and local area based staff.

Knowledge of multi-diciplinary, multi agency interventions, trauma-informed practice, behaviour support and student engagement is essential.

A working knowledge of the Victorian government education system is essential. Experience in government program and project implementation will be well regarded. The role requires a strong focus on partnership, problem-solving, and strategic engagement to support schools in addressing complex student needs and maintaining engagement in education.
