Yallambee has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Physiotherapy Assistant to join our residential aged care team.

We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual to work alongside out onsite Physiotherapist and broader multidisciplinary team (including clinical and lifestyle staff), supporting residents to achieve their mobility, rehabilitation and wellbeing goals.

As a Physio Assistant/Allied Health Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of physiotherapy and exercise programs under the direction and supervision of a qualified Physiotherapist. You will work closely with residents to encourage movement, maintain physical function and support their individual goals. Your caring and empathetic nature will be crucial in building rapport with consumers, fostering trust, and enhancing their overall quality of life.

The successful applicant will be part of a dynamic, committed and caring multidisciplinary team who understand each resident's individual needs, goals and preferences and work together to optimise their health, wellbeing and independence.

The Physiotherapy Assistant will work under the direction of the Physiotherapist and Executive Clinical Operations Manager and within their scope of practice, supporting residents with prescribed exercise, mobility and rehabilitation programs.

Key Performance Areas include:

- Support the Physiotherapist in the delivery of individual and group physiotherapy and exercise programs.
- Assist residents to participate safely in prescribed mobility, strengthening, balance and functional exercise programs.




- Encourage residents to achieve their individual mobility, rehabilitation and wellbeing goals.
- Support residents to maintain and maximise their independence and physical capabilities.
- Assist with walking, mobility and functional activities as directed by the Physiotherapist.
- Observe residents during activities and promptly report any changes, concerns or deterioration to the Physiotherapist or clinical staff.
- Develop positive and respectful relationships with residents, encouraging participation and motivation.
- Work collaboratively with the Physiotherapist, nursing, care, lifestyle and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with organisational requirements.
- Compliance with the Aged Care Standards, Yallambee’s Policies and Procedures and Yallambee’s Vision, Mission and Values Policy.
- Participate in quality improvement, auditing, education and professional development activities.
- Maintain a safe environment for residents, visitors and staff.
- Demonstrate a high standard of communication, professionalism and customer service.
- Communicating professionally and respectfully to residents, families and referring questions and concerns to Physiotherapist or Nursing staff.
- Maintains and enhances resident’s health and well-being, capabilities, independence, choice, privacy, dignity and safety.
- Ensures a safe working and living environment.
- Highest standard of documentation including, charting, progress notes, schedules, duty lists.
- Incident identification, reporting and documentation.

Key Selection Criteria:

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Previous experience working in physiotherapy, rehabilitation, allied health, aged care or a similar environment is highly desirable.
- Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance, Physiotherapy Assistance,
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- A genuine interest in supporting older people to maintain their mobility, independence and quality of life.
- Ability to follow physiotherapy programs and instructions accurately and work within scope of practice.
- Ability to motivate and encourage residents to participate in prescribed activities.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- A person-centred approach to care and service delivery.
- Understanding of the importance of dignity, choice, privacy and resident independence.
- Knowledge of the Strengthened Aged Care Standards is desirable.
