Ultralift Australia has designed and built motorised TV lift mechanisms and specialist enclosures in Melbourne for more than 25 years. Our sister brand, Westberg Sheet Metal, runs the laser cutting, folding and fabrication side of the same factory in Heidelberg West: architectural sheet metal, the EasyShroud range and one-off project work for builders, architects and event venues. Everything is made under one roof at 82 Dougharty Road. The business is owner-led, growing and investing in the factory: in the last 12 months we have added current machines to the floor, including a new laser, automation, a brake press and powder coating.

The role

We need a hands-on Sheet Metal Fabricator who can move between the press brake, the lasers and the forklift without being told twice. You will fold and form parts to drawing, run the flat-bed and tube lasers, keep material moving around the floor and, if you hold a truck licence, do the occasional delivery and pick-up. The work is high-mix and low-volume: aluminium, mild steel and stainless from 1mm to 6mm, batches of two to twenty, with a steady base of repeat product and a run of large project work booked through to December.

Hours that work for you

This is a permanent, full-time, Monday to Friday role. We are extending machine hours over the coming months, so you can take the early window (6.30am start) or the late window (6.30pm finish). No night shift, and no weekends unless you want the optional Saturday morning shift. Paid overtime at award penalty rates is available while our big projects run through to Christmas.

What you will do

Set and run the CNC press brake: fold and form to drawing,



first-off checks, hold tolerance

Run the flat-bed fibre laser and the tube laser: load and unload, de-nest, stack, check parts, daily maintenance (training provided on our machines)

General fabrication: deburr, linish, drill, tap, notch and fit up sheet metal components

Drive the forklift: unload sheet and tube deliveries, move packs to the machines, load outgoing freight

Deliveries and pick-ups in the company truck when needed (if licensed)

Log your jobs and time in our production system and keep your area clean and safe

What you bring

Trade qualification in sheet metal or engineering fabrication (Certificate III), or at least five years of equivalent hands-on experience

Solid press brake experience: you can read a drawing, work out the fold sequence and get the first part right

Current forklift licence (LF)

Current driver's licence

Reliable, safety-minded and comfortable working to a daily schedule in a small team

Highly regarded

Flat-bed fibre laser experience (Trumpf, Amada, Yawei, IMS or similar) and any tube laser experience

MIG or TIG welding, especially aluminium

Guillotine, punch, saw or general machining experience

Powder coating preparation
