- a comprehensive knowledge of the Victorian Early Years Learning & Development Framework
- Diploma of Early Childhood Education

- reliability in terms of punctuality and professionalism
- understanding of and commitment to child protection policies and procedures
- ability to deal with the public, families and children in a positive manner
- ability to accept guidance from others and be an effective team player
- ability to use initiative
- ability to plan and efficiently organise time and priorities
