Australian Traffic Construction Group Pty Ltd is seeking enthusiastic and safety-conscious Traffic Controllers to join our team in Canberra, ACT. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst contributing to critical infrastructure and construction projects across the region. As a Traffic Controller, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic at construction sites, roadworks, and special events throughout Canberra. Your responsibility will be to manage traffic flow, protect the public and workers, and maintain road safety standards at all times.

Key responsibilities

- Direct and control traffic flow at construction sites, roadworks and event locations using hand signals, traffic control devices and communication equipment
- Manage the positioning and movement of traffic control signs, cones, barriers and other safety equipment in accordance with traffic management plans
- Monitor and respond to changing traffic conditions, hazards and emergencies with quick decision-making and sound judgement
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, construction workers, emergency services and the public to ensure safety and compliance
- Ensure all traffic control measures comply with relevant legislation, standards and site-specific requirements
- Conduct regular safety checks of equipment and report any defects or maintenance issues immediately
- Maintain a qualified appearance and demeanour,



representing Australian Traffic Construction Group Pty Ltd with integrity
- Adhere to all health, safety and environmental policies, and actively participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings

What we're looking for

- Current Traffic Control Accreditation or willingness to obtain accreditation as part of employment
- High School Certificate or equivalent qualification
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups
- Excellent situational awareness and the ability to make sound safety decisions under pressure
- Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods
- Reliability, punctuality and a commitment to consistent attendance
- A genuine commitment to workplace safety and compliance with all relevant regulations
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings and weekend work as required
- A valid Australian driver's licence is essential
- Previous experience in traffic control, roadworks or construction environments is highly desirable
