Product Management Lead - Spectroscopy & Chemical Standards Portfolio

The hiring company is a global leader in analytical science, with a long-established Melbourne site that sits at the centre of their worldwide spectroscopy capability. Their consumables and chemical standards portfolio supports laboratories across semiconductor, chemical, environmental, mining and industrial markets.

They're now looking for a Product Management Leader to head up the team behind that portfolio, a genuine leadership appointment reporting directly into the divisional AVP.

The role

You'll own the strategic direction of a spectroscopy and chemical standards consumables portfolio and manage the team that takes it to market. That means real ownership of pricing, positioning, roadmap and lifecycle, and equally real accountability for revenue.

You'll lead a small, highly capable team spread across Australia, Europe and the United States, including product managers and an application scientist. The team is strong and capable and it will be your job to unite them, set the cadence, and keep the portfolio moving through a period of organisational change.

What you'll be doing

- Setting portfolio strategy– pricing, messaging, positioning and configuration, to hit financial and growth targets

- Leading and coaching a geographically dispersed team of product managers and application scientists

- Running voice-of-customer, market research and competitive analysis to shape the roadmap and identify new opportunities

- Partnering with R&D; on recent product introduction timelines, and with the global spectroscopy instruments division to get things done through influence rather than authority

- Working with marketing communications on global lead generation

- Building the sales enablement and training program that lets the global sales team position the portfolio properly





- Partnering with worldwide sales on funnel and forecast management

- Representing the portfolio at conferences, workshops and customer sites

What you'll bring

- Product management experience, inbound, not just outbound. Voice of customer, specifications, R&D; collaboration, pricing, sales enablement, and lifecycle management from launch to sunset

- Spectroscopy domain knowledge is the priority here. Experience in applied markets, semiconductor, chemical analysis, environmental, mining or similar, will put you at the front of the queue. Analytical or organic chemistry standards experience is equally valued

- Demonstrated people leadership. This is non-negotiable. You'll need to show where you've led a team, particularly a dispersed one, with authority, empathy and political judgement

- The maturity to navigate ambiguity, push back professionally, and align a team through change without treating resource constraints as a permanent roadblock

- A tertiary qualification in analytical chemistry or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications are well regarded

- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills– you'll be presenting to internal stakeholders, customers and conference audiences

- Comfort working across time zones. The team spans three continents and the leadership group shares the early/late burden rather than pushing it onto one person

Candidates with strong commercial or outbound marketing backgrounds will be considered where the spectroscopy domain expertise is genuinely deep.

The detail

- Based in Mulgrave, with a minimum of three days per week onsite. Flexibility on hours. This role cannot be performed remotely or from interstate; the proximity to the global spectroscopy R&D; group on site is a deliberate part of the design

- Competitive base salary plus superannuation, company bonus scheme and health insurance

- Fixed target salary, no at-risk or variable component
