Business Data Analyst | 6-Month FTC | Sydney (Hybrid)

A fast-growing SaaS business is tightening the metrics behind its board, investor and operational reporting, ahead of a broader data platform build. This role does the analytical and definitional groundwork that needs to happen first: establishing how core commercial metrics are calculated, documenting the data held across systems, and delivering day-to-day reporting in the meantime.

It's a hands-on, individual contributor role, working closely with Finance, Revenue Operations, Customer Success and Engineering.

What you'll own

n

n
- Designing and documenting a clean, auditable gross revenue retention (GRR) calculation
n
- Defining core data definitions and business rules to a standard the incoming Data Engineer can build from directly
n
- Building and maintaining budget and forecast models in Drivetrain
n
- Owning daily Stripe-based revenue and payments reporting
n
- Ensuring key systems (billing, CRM and product platforms) reconcile
n

What you'll bring

n

n
- Experience as a data analyst,



FP&A; analyst or revenue analyst in a subscription or SaaS business
n
- Working fluency with SaaS commercial metrics — ARR, GRR, NRR, churn, contraction and expansion — including the judgement calls behind them, not just the formulas
n
- Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
n
- Practical exposure to billing and payments data, ideally Stripe
n
- Experience writing data definitions or requirements documentation an engineer can build from without further interpretation
n
- Confidence working directly with senior stakeholders across functions, and driving agreement where definitions are contested

Nice to have

- Experience with Drivetrain, Salesforce, NetSuite and/or Stripe
n
- Exposure to CRM and customer success platforms as data sources
n
- Familiarity with data warehouse concepts and up-to-date data stack tooling
n
- SQL and the ability to profile data across multiple source systems independently
