Burdett's Sand Soil & Stone is seeking experienced Yard and AGI truck drivers to join our team on a casual basis. This role is based in Langwarrin, VIC 3910 and offers an excellent opportunity to become part of a growing transport and logistics operation in the road transport industry. You will be responsible for operating heavy vehicles, managing yard operations, and ensuring safe and efficient delivery of materials to our customers. This is a hands-on position that requires reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety standards.
Key responsibilities
Grade 5 position HR work for Agitator drivers and tandem (HR) drivers Mon-Fri + Saturdays as required
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure all equipment is in working order
Navigate to delivery destinations in a timely manner whilst adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
Load and unload materials safely using appropriate equipment and techniques
Operate concrete AGI truck equipment competently and safely
Clean and maintain vehicles
Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle condition reports, and hours of service
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery schedules and any issues
Comply with all transport regulations, including weight restrictions and rest period requirements
Assist with general yard duties as required
What we're looking for
Valid Heavy Vehicle Driver's License (at minimum HR class, or higher )
Must be available for Saturdays as required
Proven experience as a heavy vehicle driver in the transport and logistics industry
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reliability and punctuality
Physical fitness to perform manual handling tasks safely
Familiarity with yard operations and materials handling is highly desirable
Experience with logistics software or dispatch systems is a plus
