Workfast is seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join the maintenance team at a busy galvanising and steel coating plant in Campbellfield, VIC.

The Role

As a Maintenance Electrician, you will be responsible for maintaining the electrical systems and equipment that keep a busy steel coating plant operating safely and efficiently.

Your Day-to-day Duties May Include

- Carrying out preventative and reactive electrical maintenance across the plant
- Completing daily preventative maintenance (PMs)
- Diagnosing and rectifying electrical faults and breakdowns
- Fault-finding on motors, machinery, control systems and industrial equipment
- Working with PLCs, SEW drives and control circuits
- Troubleshooting and maintaining industrial control systems
- Working with and troubleshooting SCADA systems
- Inspecting, testing, repairing and maintaining electrical equipment and installations
- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, drawings and technical documentation
- Using electrical testing equipment to diagnose faults and verify repairs
- Assisting with installation, modification and commissioning of electrical equipment
- Working across production and processing equipment throughout the plant
- Supporting the maintenance team with general plant and equipment repairs
- Assisting the Boilermaker/Fitter when required
- Undertaking small general maintenance jobs during quieter periods
- Working outside purely electrical duties when required to support the operation
- Working closely with production and maintenance personnel to minimise downtime
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records where required
- Following all site safety procedures and relevant Australian Standards
- Maintaining a clean, safe and efficient work environment




- Working occasional weekend overtime when required

Shift Details

The Current Shift Is

Monday to Friday – 2:00pm to 10:00pm

The shift pattern may change in the future. Potential alternative hours may include:

- 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm, or
- 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Occasional changes to shift times may be required depending on operational requirements. An appropriate shift loading will be paid where applicable for afternoon shift work. Weekend overtime may occasionally be required.

About You

- Relevant electrical trade qualification
- Current Victorian A-Grade Electrical Licence
- Previous experience as an industrial or maintenance electrician
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience with PLCs
- Experience with SEW drives
- Experience working with control circuits
- Some experience with SCADA systems
- Experience carrying out preventative maintenance and daily PMs
- Experience working around manufacturing, production or heavy industrial equipment
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems
- Good mechanical aptitude and willingness to assist with general maintenance tasks
- Willingness to assist the Boilermaker/Fitter when required
- Flexible attitude and willingness to undertake small general maintenance jobs when required




- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team
- Reliable, punctual and safety-focused approach to work
- Good communication skills
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport
- Current EWP licence
- Confined Space ticket
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screen
- Full working rights in Australia
