About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Allied Health Assistant to join our Speech Pathology team across inpatient and community rehabilitation settings. This is a full-time, 12-week long service leave backfill opportunity commencing in early December 2026, currently split across inpatient services for three days per week and community rehabilitation (McK) for two days per week. Job share arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.

Under the delegation and supervision of Speech Pathologists, you will support the delivery of 1:1 and group therapy interventions for patients with communication and swallowing goals. You will contribute to person-centred, evidence-based care and undertake delegated clinical, administrative and rehabilitation activities within your scope of practice.

Working as part of a broader multidisciplinary team of allied health, nursing and medical professionals, you will support quality patient care across both inpatient and community rehabilitation settings while developing your skills and contributing to a positive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver person-centred care by managing delegated caseloads and participating in collaborative, evidence-based multidisciplinary assessment, treatment and review, ensuring timely and accurate service delivery
- Contribute to service quality and improvement by implementing clinical policies and strategies, identifying opportunities for improvement, supporting accurate documentation and reporting, and using health resources effectively




- Promote collaborative and professional practice through effective communication, respectful and culturally safe care, reflective practice, supervision and ongoing professional development in line with Barwon Health values and relevant standards

What we’re looking for

- Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent, with relevant clinical experience, knowledge and skills to perform the role effectively
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues and health service providers in an inclusive and culturally safe workplace
- Commitment to reflective practice, ongoing professional development and applying knowledge to practice, with demonstrated alignment to Barwon Health values and confidence using information technology systems
