Executive Director, Communications, Engagement & Behaviour Change

The Company is seeking an Executive Director for Communications, Engagement, and Behaviour Change. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the strategic framework of the organization's narrative, voice, and channel strategy, ensuring a consistent and proactive external presence that aligns with regulatory priorities. This role is pivotal in driving cultural and practice change, particularly in embedding communications and engagement earlier in the regulatory decision-making process.

The Executive Director will lead a team that oversees strategic, media, and digital communications, as well as industry capability uplift, place-based engagement, and partnerships, with a key focus on behaviour change. Candidates for this executive leadership position should have a proven track record in communications, engagement, behaviour change, public affairs, or regulatory functions,



with experience in a complex public sector, statutory authority, or regulatory workplace. The role requires deep expertise in strategic communications, media, digital channels, stakeholder engagement, and public trust, with the ability to translate regulatory priorities into clear narratives and behavioural interventions.

Strong political acumen, sound judgement, and the ability to manage a wide range of stakeholders, including government, industry, Traditional Owners, community, and media, are essential. The ideal candidate will be an effective change leader, capable of building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, all while being driven by the mission to protect the environment and the community.
