Radiology Fellow - Northern Imaging Victoria

Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Radiology Fellow to join Northern Imaging Victoria.

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our six main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity exists for enthusiastic Radiology Fellows to join the team at Northern Health. Northern Imaging Victoria is the newest public medical imaging department in Victoria, having gone live in October 2023. We provide a comprehensive and integrated service consisting of Diagnostic Radiology, Interventional Radiology and Nuclear Medicine/PET.

Our services are delivered across multiple Northern Health sites, with a focus on acute and emergency imaging and intervention at the Northern Hospital Epping, which serves the busiest Emergency Department in Victoria. Outpatient services are based at our new Broadmeadows Hospital imaging department with satellite imaging at Kilmore and Craigieburn Community Hospitals. Additional expansion at our Epping campus will also see the development of a recent Emergency Department, inpatient tower and satellite Imaging department co-located with ED. Our department is equipped with the latest medical imaging equipment and a best of breed RIS-PACS system. We are a friendly,

This role requires the Radiology Trainee to have completed the Part 2 FRANZCR or equivalent.

Northern Imaging Victoria is able to offer fellowship exposure across three areas. The stream or mix available would be negotiated based on department need and candidate preference:

- Women's Imaging (Breast and/or Obstetrics and Gynecology): This fellowship will offer comprehensive experience in all facets of Breast imaging and O&G; imaging including breast intervention (MRI guided breast biopsy) and contrast enhanced mammography supporting a busy high-volume breast and O&G; clinical service. Fellows will work under fellowship trained breast radiologists, O&G; radiologists as well as O&G; consultant sonologist. There will be ample opportunity for teaching, participation in all relevant MDMs and research.
- Body Imaging: (Abdominal Imaging): This program offers specialized training in body computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, abdominal procedures such as FNA and core needle biopsy, fluid drainages, and some limited exposure to gastrointestinal and genitourinary fluoroscopy. The program's objective is to foster the growth of radiologists specializing in abdominal imaging, equipped with comprehensive skills. Fellows will be actively engaged in research and will participate in both MDM and non-MDM clinical meetings. Moreover, the program boasts a robust exposure to IBD, colorectal, urology, and hepatobiliary imaging.




- Interventional Radiology: This will be a comprehensive fellowship incorporating all aspects of clinical IR practice including clinics, ward rounds and procedural exposure to vascular and non-vascular intervention with on call responsibilities. Northern IR has two dedicated IR angio suites and a comprehensive IR program and offers large-bore mechanical thrombectomy for PE, Y90 radioembolisation and a growing Interventional Oncology practice. The fellow will be supervised by a team of 5 IR consultants and the fellow will be supported to sit the CIRSE EBIR examination.'

All fellows will also maintain participation in general radiology work.

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Primary medical qualification (MBBS, MB BCh, MD or equivalent) registrable with AHPRA.
- Completed Part 2 RANZCR Examinations or equivalent
- Broad knowledge in all aspects of Radiology for safe practice including plain film radiography, CT, MRI, US, fluoroscopy and core procedural skills.
- Demonstrated keenness and initiative to advance in subspecialty skills
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in medical imaging service delivery.
- Demonstrated commitment to continued improvement and team work.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable the development of professional relationships across a broad range of people.
- Commitment to excellence in medical imaging, research and medical education.

There are two roles available, with one mid-year intake August 2026 (6 months position, Body Fellow) and one 12 month position commencing 1 February 2027 and ending 06 February 2028.
