About the role

Working as part of a close-knit team, you will help prepare and deliver consistently fresh, appealing and high-quality food across a café and growing catering operation. This is a permanent part-time position offering approximately 25–30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with anticipated working hours of approximately 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, although some flexibility may be required during larger catering periods.

Key responsibilities

Preparing and cooking a diverse range of café and catering dishes

Coordinating food preparation for corporate and larger catering orders

Contributing ideas for seasonal menus, daily specials and new catering products

Maintaining excellent standards of presentation, consistency and portion control

Assisting with ordering, stock rotation, waste reduction and inventory management

Contributing to recipe costing and maintaining agreed food-cost targets

Ensuring food-safety, allergen and workplace-safety requirements are consistently followed

Helping organise daily kitchen production and priorities

Supporting and mentoring team members and workplace trainees

Communicating effectively with management, kitchen staff and front-of-house team members

About you

Experience as a chef or highly experienced cook in a commercial kitchen

The ability to confidently prepare a broad variety of dishes and cuisines

Experience in catering,



high-volume production or corporate food service

Solid organisation and time-management skills

The ability to work autonomously and take ownership of your responsibilities

A sound understanding of food costs, portion control, stock management and waste reduction

Leadership skills and the confidence to help guide a small team

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Experience producing cakes, muffins, cupcakes, slices, pastries or other baked catering items would be a significant advantage

A strong commitment to food quality, presentation and customer satisfaction

A current Food Safety Supervisor certificate

Our kitchen produces a diverse range of food, including café meals, daily specials, corporate lunches, meeting catering, platters, salads, baked goods and larger catering orders.
