Caterpillar Kidz ELC - DANDENONG is seeking an experienced and inspirational Centre Director to lead our Dandenong early learning centre. This is a full-time position based in Dandenong VIC 3175, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on early childhood education and care within our community.

As Centre Director, you will be responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, and operational excellence of the centre. You will create a nurturing, inclusive environment where children thrive and families feel supported. This role is pivotal to our success, combining educational leadership with strong business acumen to ensure the centre meets and exceeds standards of quality, safety, and care.

Key responsibilities

- Provide educational leadership and vision for the centre, ensuring a commitment to best practice in early childhood education
- Manage and supervise staff, including recruitment, induction, career development, and performance management
- Maintain compliance with the National Quality Standard (NQS), National Quality Framework (NQF), and relevant state and federal regulations
- Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote child safety, well-being, and educational outcomes
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and respond to feedback from families, staff, and regulatory bodies
- Manage budget, financial planning, and operational resources to ensure the centre's sustainability and profitability
- Foster positive relationships with families and the local community, promoting the centre's values and programs
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels, rosters, and training compliance
- Coordinate and contribute to curriculum planning and implementation across all age groups




- Maintain detailed records, documentation, and administrative systems in accordance with legal requirements
- Conduct regular risk assessments and implement strategies to ensure a safe, welcoming environment

What we're looking for

- A recognised Early Childhood Education and Care qualification (Diploma or Bachelor level, or equivalent recognised overseas qualification)
- Current First Aid Certificate (including paediatric first aid) and CPR certification
- Current Working with Children Check or ability to obtain one
- Minimum 5 years' experience in early childhood education and care settings
- Demonstrated leadership experience, preferably in a management or director role within an education or childcare context
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Standard and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with staff, families, and external stakeholders
- Sound financial management and administrative capabilities
- Ability to create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive community
- Problem-solving skills and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Current knowledge of child safety legislation and a commitment to creating a safe environment for all children




- Experience in staff recruitment, performance management, and professional development is highly desirable
- Experience with centre management systems and technology is advantageous
