Local Residential Pty Ltd – South Melbourne VIC
Local is a Melbourne-born BTR business focused on creating and managing communities built entirely for renters. We believe in using our homes to create stronger communities, making renting more secure, sustainable and connected for Australians. Now Australia’s largest BTR platform, Local has a completed portfolio valued at over $2.46B, with 3,246 apartments across six neighbourhoods along the eastern seaboard. It’s also important to us to provide homes for people who, through no fault of their own, don’t have suitable places to live. That’s why at least 10% of each of our projects is committed to supplying homes for social, affordable and specialist disability accommodation.
Our people are our greatest assets. We have a team made up of diverse skills and perspectives united by a shared goal: creating communities that people truly love being part of. If that sounds like something you’d like to be part of, read on!
A little about the opportunity
We’re on the hunt for a Resident Associate to join our South Melbourne community in a 389-apartment development home to around 700 residents. This is a front-of-house role where you’ll be at the heart of the resident experience, creating a welcoming, seamless and high-quality environment for everyone who walks through the door.
Working closely with the Assistant General Manager, you’ll support the day-to-day operations of the building from resident engagement and events to property management administration and operational support. In short,
you’ll play a key role in shaping the everyday experience of our residents and helping create a community people genuinely love being part of.
What you’ll bring
A genuine customer-first mindset, with a passion for creating positive experiences and building a welcoming community.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently and professionally with residents, colleagues and external partners.
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain attention to detail.
A cooperative approach and willingness to support your team to achieve shared goals.
A proactive, solutions-focused attitude, always looking for opportunities to improve processes and outcomes.
Adaptability and resilience, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Confidence using Microsoft Office and other digital systems; experience with property management platforms is highly regarded.
Previous experience in residential property management or a customer-facing property role is advantageous but not essential.
Why join Local Residential?
For us, this is more than just a job; it’s something we genuinely care about. What we’re building takes curiosity, energy and a willingness to challenge the norm. We’ve created a culture where people are encouraged to speak up,
think differently and keep pushing for better because “that’ll do” isn’t really our thing. We’re not all work and no play, though. We love rewarding our people for the work that they do, and we’re big believers in having FUN.
Here’s a little about our perks:
We’re big on growth, from courses and conferences to leadership development; we’ll support you to learn, develop and thrive.
We also know the importance of switching off, with additional Fridays off throughout the year and time to give back through community impact days.
Our EAP is available to all team members and their immediate family, providing confidential support whenever it’s needed. Whether it’s personal, professional or somewhere in between, we’ve got you covered.
7 Local days: We give our team seven extra days each year to switch off and focus on themselves, their loved ones and their wellbeing.
From day one merch to “sips and chips,” team lunches and regular social events, we make sure there’s plenty of fun along the way.
We’re committed to a workplace that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. Different perspectives make us stronger, more creative, and help us keep challenging the way renting and living are done. If you’ve got the skills, curiosity and drive to learn, even if you don’t tick every box, we still encourage you to get in touch.
