Senior Fund Accountant | Sydney | Permanent

A well-established financial services business in Sydney is looking to add an experienced Senior Fund Accountant to their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take real ownership over a portfolio of funds, mentor junior team members, and build a long-term career with a business that genuinely invests in its people.

About the role

You'll take day-to-day responsibility for the accurate and timely delivery of fund accounting services across an allocated portfolio, acting as a technical point of reference for junior team members and a trusted point of contact for clients and other stakeholders. This is a hands-on role with genuine scope to grow into a team leadership position over time.

Key responsibilities

Fund accounting and reporting

- Prepare and review NAV calculations, unit pricing and fund accounting records
- Manage the preparation and review of client and investor reporting packs
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting processes
- Assist with the preparation of annual and half-year financial statements
- Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors as required

Reconciliations and controls

- Oversee cash, investment and unit register reconciliations for allocated funds
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies, escalating where appropriate
- Ensure internal policies, procedures and checklists are consistently followed





Client and stakeholder management

- Act as a key point of contact for client queries relating to your portfolio
- Build strong working relationships with registrars, custodians and internal teams
- Communicate proactively to avoid surprises and keep stakeholders informed

Team support and development

- Review the work of junior fund accountants and provide constructive feedback
- Support the onboarding and training of new team members
- Share technical knowledge and act as a mentor within the team

Fund onboarding and technical knowledge

- Assist with the onboarding of new funds, including reviewing key fund documents
- Maintain a strong understanding of fund structures and reporting timetables
- Stay across relevant regulatory and tax compliance requirements

What we're looking for

- Tertiary qualified in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- CA/CPA qualified, or well progressed towards qualification
- 5+ years' experience in fund accounting or financial services
- Strong technical knowledge of NAV calculations, unit pricing and fund reporting
- A keen eye for detail and solid understanding of risk and compliance concepts
- Confidence reviewing the work of others and providing explicit, constructive feedback
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
