Role Description:

The role of Manager has responsibilities across three domains:

- Clients: Manage and lead the team to deliver a high-quality client experience through clear communication, solid workflow management and timely delivery of advice and documentation. Build trusted client relationships and help them to achieve things beyond their own limits.
- Team: Support and guide team members to contribute their best work, foster a motivating and engaging culture, and develop their skills and career.
- Firm: Contribute to achieving the Firm’s client value proposition, employee value proposition and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

With the clients:

- Manage client relationships and ensure accurate, timely, professional communication with them.
- Manage workflow to meet firm standards for timely completion of work.
- Clearly scope engagements and achieve client acceptance of scope and budget.
- Anticipate client needs and consistent with the firm’s mission and strategy, suggest additional services and make internal referrals where those are consistent with client needs.
- Review work for all entity types with a high attention to detail and ensure delivery of a consistent,



high-quality product where the delivery standard is excellence over perfection.
- Foster and develop a client-focused mindset within the team, encouraging team members to consider how we can best support clients to achieve outcomes beyond what they thought possible.

With the team:

- Lead, train, plan, communicate and support the development of team members.
- Provide team members with timely feedback, support and training on each job.
- Support team members to work efficiently, understand priorities and deliver work within agreed budgets and timeframes.
- Where possible, plan work in advance to maintain a consistent workload and minimise periods of excessive time pressure, including maintaining a rolling three-month workflow planner.
- Ensure you and your team attend and participate in all meetings and training as required.

With the firm:

- Support and collaborate closely with other managers, both onshore and offshore, to ensure workflow and capacity are managed smoothly across the firm.
- Work collaboratively with all onshore and offshore team members to support the high-quality and timely delivery of work.
- Contribute to the overall performance of the Business Services team.
- Support the firm’s financial management, including: Preparing weekly billings | Monitoring and collecting debtors. | Completing a detailed monthly review of WIP and write offs.| Complete the monthly Management Control Plan to monitor workflow, WIP, billing, debtors, team capacity and key operational priorities. | Supporting jobs to be completed, billed and finalised in a timely manner.



| Communicating expectations regarding billing mid-month.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow, communication and service delivery across the firm.
- Provide clear instructions and budgets to your team members for each job you delegate, to support their understanding, and the efficient and timely delivery of outputs.
- Continue to develop technical, software and professional skills through active participation in training, learning and development activities, and team meetings.

Qualifications

- Degree qualified (Accounting, Business, Finance)
- CAANZ or CPA qualified
- Formal management training desirable
- Leadership training desirable (ideally the Human Synergistics model)
- 10+ years’ experience in Australian professional practice
- Above-average technical expertise handling all accounting and tax work
- Experience and/or skills with Xero accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Experience in training, coaching, mentoring or supervising employees is highly desirable
