We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking AI & Data Lead to take ownership of enterprise data capability while driving the next generation of AI-enabled business transformation within a growing education organisation.

This is a unique opportunity to combine data leadership, AI, automation and technology transformation in a highly influential role, with the opportunity to establish the foundations that will shape how data and AI are used across the organisation.

You will lead the Data, AI & Automation team and work closely with senior leadership to deliver major transformation initiatives that improve business performance, operational efficiency and student outcomes.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Digital & Data, you will take ownership of the organisation's data architecture, reporting capability, governance frameworks and AI strategy.

This is not purely a strategy role. You will combine leadership with hands-on technical expertise across data architecture, migration, business intelligence, automation and AI.

A major focus will be establishing a trusted enterprise data foundation while identifying practical opportunities to use AI and automation to create measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

Data Strategy & Architecture

- Define and own enterprise data architecture, standards and governance
- Establish a trusted single source of truth across operational, financial, student and regulatory data




- Lead data migration activities across a significant technology transformation program
- Establish data quality, security, retention and records management frameworks
- Develop enterprise data definitions, standards and documentation

AI & Automation

- Develop and execute the organisation's AI and automation roadmap
- Identify high-value opportunities where AI and automation can improve efficiency and scalability
- Design and implement AI-enabled process improvements that deliver measurable outcomes
- Establish responsible AI governance, including approved use cases, model monitoring and human oversight
- Help translate emerging AI capability into practical business solutions

Business Intelligence & Reporting

- Own operational, business and financial reporting
- Ensure leaders have access to timely, accurate and actionable insights
- Drive the use of learning analytics to improve student outcomes and experience
- Strengthen business intelligence capability across the organisation

Leadership & Transformation

- Lead, mentor and develop the Data & Automation team
- Partner with senior leaders to translate complex technology concepts into business outcomes
- Manage external technology partners, consultants and vendors
- Contribute to the broader digital, data and technology strategy
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability and continuous improvement

About You





You will be an experienced data and technology leader who understands that successful AI transformation starts with strong data foundations.

You will bring

- Significant experience across data leadership, architecture, migration, reporting and governance
- Demonstrated experience establishing enterprise data frameworks and standards
- Experience delivering AI, automation and business transformation initiatives
- Hands-on experience with Business Intelligence and reporting technologies
- Strong knowledge of modern cloud-based data platforms and architecture
- Practical understanding of responsible AI and AI governance
- Experience leading technical teams and external delivery partners
- Strong executive-level stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience working within regulated environments

Experience within education, VET or RTO environments, particularly exposure to AVETMISS and government reporting requirements, will be highly regarded.
