Hand Therapist / Practitioner of Hand Therapy

An exciting opportunity exists at Geelong Hand Therapy for a current graduate or early career occupational therapist to join our dynamic team! This position is for students who are graduating at the end of 2026 or early career therapists, with a view to commence in early 2027. Clinical placement in hand therapy is preferred but not essential - this role includes a thorough and supportive mentoring program designed to increase your knowledge in the assessment and treatment of the upper limb and to develop your clinical reasoning. Candidates will be provided with a comprehensive and structured training program to support your growth and development.With an open-door policy, you will always feel supported in your role.

Geelong Hand Therapy has been the region's largest hand therapy service for the last 30 years. We have a team of hand therapists who work cohesively together across three locations. This position is based at our central Geelong location. Our team is focused on providing exceptional customer service and is driven to ensuring the best possible patient outcomes with the most up to date evidence-based practice.

The Role:

This role involves working with a dedicated and supportive team to assess and treat patients with a full variety of upper limb injuries and conditions (initial caseload is dependent on experience). Conditions include trauma, post-operative rehabilitation, sports injuries, congenital conditions, chronic degenerative conditions,



workplace injuries and motor vehicle accidents. The successful applicant would:

- Have a passion for hand therapy
- Have a willingness to learn to develop new skills and knowledge
- Have excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Be able to work independently while also understanding when to ask for guidance if necessary
- Liaise confidently with our local referrers (GP’s and Plastic/Orthopaedic Surgeons)

- Current registration with AHPRA

Desirable but not essential:

- Clinical placement or work experience in hand therapy
- Completion of a formal hand therapy course (eg. AHTA Introduction to Hand Therapy course)
