ABOUT THE ROLE
As a casual Car Park Supervisor, you will play a key frontline role in delivering high levels of customer service and a safe, efficient and seamless transport experience for our people, guests and partners across Melbourne Park.
Reporting to the Precinct Parking & Transport Manager, you will lead the operation of car park services during events, supervising Parking Attendants and Control Room Operators to ensure consistently high standards of safety, service and operational performance. You will be highly visible across the car park environment, responding proactively to changing conditions, managing operational and customer issues, and providing clear direction during high-volume events.
With almost 500 events held annually, this is a dynamic role where no two shifts are the same. You will be instrumental in managing peak arrival and departure periods, monitoring vehicle and pedestrian movements, responding to incidents and congestion, and ensuring resources are aligned to event requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise Parking Attendants and Control Room Operators, including resource allocation, team briefings, direction and support.
- Monitor car park operations, vehicle and pedestrian movements, capacity, congestion and access before, during and after events.
- Identify and respond to hazards, incidents and operational risks, ensuring appropriate escalation and reporting
- Deliver a professional, customer-focused service by resolving customer issues efficiently
- Manage authorised access for staff, contractors and suppliers while maintaining clear radio communication and effective stakeholder coordination.
- Complete accurate operational reporting, incident documentation and shift handovers, while identifying recurring issues and opportunities for continuous improvement.
ABOUT YOU You are a confident and proactive frontline leader who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. You can remain calm under pressure, make sound operational decisions and provide clear direction when event conditions change quickly. You bring a robust commitment to safety, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, contractors, event stakeholders and members of the public.
You are comfortable being highly visible on the ground and taking ownership of issues from identification through to resolution or escalation.
You have
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory, team leader or frontline operational role, ideally within events, venues, parking, transport, security, hospitality or a similar environment.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer enquiries, complaints and challenging interactions professionally.
- A strong understanding of workplace and public safety requirements, with the ability to identify, manage and escalate hazards, risks and incidents.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and support a team, including allocating resources, conducting briefings and maintaining performance standards.
- Excellent communication skills, including confidence using two-way radios and other operational communication systems, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Good computer and administrative skills, a current driver's licence, and the flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
