✨ Where you'll be working An exciting opportunity exists for a Clinical Psychologist to join the Support Through Early Psychosis Service (STEPS). As part of Mental Health Services, STEPS is an early intervention, recovery based service for young people between the ages of 16-30, who have experienced a psychosis within the past two years. STEPS provides individual interventions with a focus on supporting consumers in learning more about their illness, the management of symptoms and the prevention of relapse.

We also assist with goal setting and moving forward in life.

The STEPS team currently consists of Clinical Psychologists and Occupational Therapists. Our team have the prospect to work collaboratively with a Psychiatrist, Dietitian, Exercise Physiologist and Employment Consultant one day per week.

You will work alongside other passionate clinicians who embrace a positive attitude towards working with clients in a recovery focused and trauma informed way.

✨ The Opportunity The position is based at Parry Street, Hamilton Campus in Newcastle and is a temporary part time position. As a Clinical Psychologist within the team you will assess and address the psychological/rehabilitation needs of consumers to the team, ensuring the provision of high quality client centred clinical rehabilitation interventions that enable personal and functional recovery, quality of life and mental health stability.

You will work within a rehabilitation framework with young people who have experienced psychosis, often with complex presentations, assisting their recovery and collaborating with other mental health services and community managed organisations as required. You will manage a caseload, together with providing consultative psychological interventions to other consumers within the service as part of the multidisciplinary team.

You will be supported by the Team Leader, Servicer Manager and wider team and be provided with comprehensive orientation to the STEPS Service and the role, supported by well documented processes and guidelines. Ongoing professional development and supervision is supported.

✨ About You The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of contemporary,



recovery-oriented rehabilitation principles and practices, including the application of early psychosis intervention guidelines. You will be able to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, with demonstrated knowledge and experience in contemporary psychological practice and its application within an early psychosis service. You will hold current AHPRA registration and endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist, with a minimum postgraduate Master’s qualification in Clinical Psychology, or be a Clinical Psychology Registrar or currently enrolled in a recognised Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with the relevant AHPRA registration.

Requirements

- Current registration as a Psychologist with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent, displayed on the Psychology Board of Australia website.
