About the role

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team on a full-time basis at our Altona, VIC office. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in our business by providing accurate cost analysis and detailed project estimates that inform our bidding strategy and project planning. This position is integral to our ability to secure projects competitively whilst maintaining profitability and delivering value to our clients.

Your expertise will directly impact our competitive positioning in the residential construction market.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for residential construction projects based on architectural drawings, specifications and project requirements

- Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs and material assessments to ensure comprehensive project costing

- Research and obtain current pricing from suppliers and subcontractors to maintain competitive and realistic estimates

- Analyse project scope and identify potential risks, costs and opportunities for value engineering

- Collaborate with project managers, architects and site supervisors to clarify specifications and refine estimates

- Maintain detailed records and documentation of all estimates and cost data for future reference and analysis

- Monitor market trends and material costs to ensure estimates remain current and competitive

- Review tender documents and contractual terms to identify cost implications and project constraints

- Contribute to continuous improvement in estimating processes and accuracy through regular review and feedback

What we're looking for





- Proven experience as an Estimator in the residential construction industry, ideally with 3+ years in a similar role

- Strong proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word

- In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, labour costs and industry standards

- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, plans and specifications accurately

- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders

- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines

- Knowledge of building codes, regulations and compliance requirements relevant to residential construction

- Professional qualification in construction, quantity surveying or estimating is highly desirable

- Computer literacy and ability to quickly adapt to recent software systems and technologies
