About the role

IGA Fraser Shores is seeking an Experienced Takeaway Cook to join our deli team in Hervey Bay. This is a fantastic opportunity to utilise your culinary expertise in a fast-paced takeaway environment where quality, efficiency and teamwork are paramount. You will prepare, cook and display a range of fresh and tasty menu items for our hotboxes and self-serve displays catering to our customers' needs.

You will be an integral part of our food service operation, offering innovation and creative ideas while ensuring quality products.

Key responsibilities

- Preparing and cooking a range of hot takeaway foods
- Preparing salads, sandwiches and other deli items
- Maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation
- Preparing food for busy trading periods
- Ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are always met
- Keeping the kitchen and work areas clean and organised
- Monitoring stock, freshness and food waste
- Working as part of a friendly and supportive deli team




- Serving customers at the hot-food counter and at the registers

About you

- Has previous experience as a takeaway, deli or commercial cook
- Is confident preparing food in a busy, high-volume workplace
- Has excellent food preparation and cooking skills, showing creativity and initiative
- Takes pride in the quality and presentation of their food
- Has a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene
- Works well under pressure and can manage time effectively
- Is reliable, hardworking and has a positive attitude
- Can work independently and as part of a team
- Is available for early morning or afternoon and evening shifts, as well as weekend work
- Supermarket deli or takeaway experience is highly desirable
