Finance Director - Capital Management | Sydney CBD The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Director - Capital Management to join a growing, government-backed Australian investment organisation with a significant national mandate.

This is a unique opportunity to sit at the intersection of Finance, Investment, Treasury and Strategy, providing the financial insight that supports major capital allocation and portfolio decisions.

The role will act as a key adviser to senior executives, the Investment Committee and Board, with responsibility for portfolio economics, capital deployment, forecasting, financial risk and investment performance.

You will have genuine scope to build and evolve the Capital Management function during a significant period of organisational growth, while helping shape how capital is managed and deployed across Australia.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the development and execution of the Capital Management strategy.
- Provide strategic financial advice on capital allocation, investment performance and portfolio optimisation.
- Lead forecasting activities across portfolio returns, capital deployment, revenue and cash flows.
- Develop sophisticated financial models to support investment evaluation and strategic planning.
- Undertake scenario and stress testing across varying economic and market conditions.
- Assess portfolio economics, investment returns and financial risks.
- Lead strategies relating to FX exposure and interest rate risk.
- Partner closely with Investment leadership to assess opportunities, challenge assumptions and identify value creation opportunities.
- Provide strategic oversight of transactional and investment accounting activities.




- Oversee accounting treatment for complex debt, equity and hybrid investment structures.
- Deliver high-quality analysis and advice to the Executive Leadership Team, Investment Committee and Board.
- Drive the use of AI, automation and advanced analytics across Capital Management, forecasting, portfolio monitoring and reporting.
- Lead and develop the transactional accounting function through a senior direct report.

About You

We are looking for a commercially minded Finance leader with solid experience across one or more of the following areas:

- Capital Management
- Treasury
- Corporate Finance
- Investment Management
- Portfolio Management
- Infrastructure Finance
- Private Equity
- Development Finance
- Sovereign or government-backed investment environments

You will ideally have:
- Extensive experience analysing portfolio performance and investment returns.
- Advanced financial modelling, forecasting and scenario analysis capability.
- Strong understanding of IRR, NPV, ROI and portfolio performance measurement.
- Experience managing capital allocation and strategic financial planning.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly across complex investment transactions and structures.
- Understanding of FX and interest-rate risk management.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to challenge financial assumptions.
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to influence senior executives and communicate complex financial information clearly.
- Experience preparing Board papers and providing strategic advice to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications A degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics or Accounting is required.

CA, CPA, CFA, MBA and/or FRM qualifications will be highly regarded.
