Company Description The William Buckland Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives and futures of children and young people in Victoria who need the most support. The Foundation funds services that help children and families thrive and backs new ideas and long-term thinking in climate and agriculture.

Its work is focused on two areas: Thriving Places, supporting communities to put children and families first, and Sustainable Futures, connecting young people with the jobs and skills they will need. Over the next five years, the Foundation is prioritizing funding in the Hume region, beginning with Benalla, Seymour, and Shepparton. The Foundation listens closely to communities and works in partnership with them, offering grants by invitation only.

Role Description The Granting Specialist is a full-time role responsible for managing the end-to-end grants process, from initial engagement with potential partners through assessment, recommendation, and ongoing grant management. Based in Melbourne, VIC, this hybrid position involves working both on-site and from home as needed. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing proposals, conducting due diligence, analyzing community needs, and preparing clear, evidence-based recommendations for funding decisions.

The role also involves maintaining relationships with grant partners, monitoring progress and outcomes, and supporting learning and evaluation activities.

The Granting





Specialist will collaborate with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to align grants with the Foundation’s strategic focus areas and to ensure transparent, well-documented processes.

Qualifications

- Experience in grant management, philanthropic funding, or community investment, including assessing proposals and managing funding agreements.
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret data, understand community needs, and prepare concise, well-reasoned funding recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft reports, briefings, and stakeholder correspondence in clear, accessible language.
- Relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working collaboratively with community organizations, government, or not-for-profit partners.
- Organizational and time management skills, with the capacity to manage multiple grants, deadlines, and priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Understanding of issues affecting children, young people, and regional communities, and an interest in social impact, climate, agriculture, or future skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, using digital tools for collaboration and documentation, and to operate both independently and as part of a small team.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in fields such as social science, public policy, community development, business, or a related discipline are highly regarded.
