About us The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA), incorporating the Faculty of Pain Medicine, is an internationally recognised specialist medical education institution responsible for the training, examinations, specialist qualification, and continuing professional development of anaesthetists and pain medicine specialists in Australia and New Zealand.

About the opportunity

Reporting to the People Experience Manager, the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor is a specialist role responsible for supporting a protected, healthy and proactive workplace across ANZCA. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will provide trusted advice and ensure our health and safety practices, systems and initiatives remain contemporary, effective and compliant across relevant jurisdictions.

This is a hands-on role where you will balance day-to-day health and safety responsibilities with key projects and continuous improvement initiatives. You will maintain our health and safety management system, support risk mitigation, partner with stakeholders and play an significant role in strengthening our health, safety and wellbeing culture.

A key initial focus will be supporting the implementation of our psychosocial risk program, reviewing incident reporting and training records, and ensuring our OHS policies, procedures and supporting resources continue to meet legislative and organisational requirements.

Key deliverables

- Provide specialist advice and support to ensure compliance with OHS/WHS, return to work and workers' compensation requirements across relevant jurisdictions
- Maintain and continuously improve ANZCA's health and safety management system, including policies, procedures, forms, records and reporting
- Lead and contribute to health, safety and wellbeing projects, including psychosocial risk initiatives
- Monitor hazards and incidents, conduct risk assessments and investigations, and support effective corrective actions
- Champion and provide expert guidance to the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee and support the delivery of key initiatives
- Review and monitor health and safety training and compliance requirements and provide education to staff where appropriately qualified
- Conduct workplace ergonomic assessments and provide practical advice where appropriately skilled
- Monitor health and safety performance,



audits and risk controls and provide meaningful reporting and recommendations for continuous improvement

You will bring a practical approach to safety, strong stakeholder skills and the confidence to work autonomously while partnering effectively across the organisation.

You will be comfortable moving between compliance, project work and practical problem-solving and have the ability to influence a proactive approach to health, safety and wellbeing.

Specifically, you will bring:

Essential

- Tertiary qualifications and relevant certifications in health and safety
- Demonstrated health and safety experience, ideally gained within a professional or office-based environment
- Contemporary knowledge of OHS/WHS legislation and emerging health, safety and psychosocial risk requirements
- Experience managing online health and safety management systems and maintaining accurate compliance records
- Demonstrated experience assessing health and safety risks, conducting audits and investigations, and interpreting data and performance indicators
- Strong project management skills and the ability to take ownership of health, safety and wellbeing initiatives
- Experience or knowledge relating to psychosocial risk and workplace wellbeing
- Strong influencing, stakeholder management and business partnering skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing policies, procedures, reports and staff communications
- Strong organisational, problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities
- Confidence in developing and delivering health and safety training and education
- Strong systems capability, including Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to work with online health and safety and learning management systems

Highly regarded

- Professional certification or membership with the Australian Institute of Health and Safety (AIHS), or similar professional credentials




- Experience conducting workplace ergonomic assessments
