Position Title: Land Access – Environmental Specialist

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This document provides an overview of the Land Access Environmental Specialist, you will support the General Manager and the Design team across various projects. Identifying Local and National Heritage. Monitoring and maintaining delivery targets will be a crucial part of your role, and you will be required to adhere to all relevant regulations and process compliance standards around Australia, overseeing the notifications and approval processes related to each State or Territory

Responsibilities

- The Environmental Specialist will be required to ensure that all designs comply with the Telco Act 1997 for each project, based on certain criteria which will need to be assessed and prioritised.
- The Environmental Specialist will be expected to conduct their own searches and findings, on behalf of client, when reviewing design solutions.
- All solutions should adhere to client’s current design standards, compliant with the client project brief / targets and abide by Local, State and Commonwealth legislation as applicable.
- The final Approvals / notifications for all parties will be the sole responsibility of the Environmental Specialist.
- The Environmental Specialist will be required to assist coaching / mentoring and developing Land Access Staff in conjunction with the GM Ops as directed.
- The Environmental Specialist will also be required at times to review the quality of Design standards at specific intervals or as directed by Clients and the GM ops.

Required Skills – CORE COMPETENCIES:

- Interpretation of consultation reports
- Preparing approval and assessment documents
- Reviewing, collecting, and managing relevant environmental data
- Submission of LAANs to 3rd Parties and Management of these LAANs
- Identification of Internal and external stakeholders relevant to each design on a case-by-case basis
- Liaising with internal & external stakeholders (operations, project teams and Design Team) in defining engagement strategies

Required Skills – EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

It is desired that the person has the following:

- Proven experience in a similar role, working in Telecommunications and or Environmental Science
- Strong Knowledge of heritage, environment and cultural approvals, legislation and processes.
- Solid Understanding of the Telecommunication Act is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal Skills and communication
- Proficiency with computers and software applications, including Word and Excel, is essential
