About the role

We are seeking a motivated candidate from TAFE with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or higher to join our team as a Mechanical Project Engineer. This internal role is pivotal to supporting both our sales and after-sales teams, providing mechanical engineering expertise to drive project sales, ensure customer satisfaction and business growth. You will be the go-to resource for internal staff and customers, playing a key role in quoting, proposals, troubleshooting, and customer engagement across all aspects of mechanical engineering, particularly composite structures and materials.

This is a great opportunity for a recent TAFE Diploma of Engineering (Mechanical) graduate, or a graduate of a related mechanical/Industrial discipline, looking to start their career in a technical, customer-facing role.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and deliver tailored proposals, quotes, and technical submissions aligned with client requirements.

- Deliver frontline support to customers, including technical guidance, product selection assistance, and troubleshooting.

- Liaise with clients, project managers, and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of information and engineering services.

- Coordinate with clients to address pre-sale and after-sales technical queries.

- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with customers to drive repeat business and long-term partnerships.

- Build and maintain relationships with contractors, engineers, industrial clients and regulatory consultants.





- Identify current business opportunities in the Australian market and contribute to sales strategy development.

- Support clients in understanding and navigating Australian standard compliance, and relevant local industrial regulations.

- Assist in preparing necessary documentation to meet compliance standards and respond to regulatory queries.

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Australian codes, and industry changes affecting product compliance and approval pathways.

About you

- A TAFE Diploma of Engineering (Mechanical), or a related mechanical/materials discipline (completed or nearing completion).

- Suitable aptitude for technical sales dealing with different clientele.

- A foundational technical understanding, including the ability to read and interpret mechanical/engineering drawings, structural plans, and specifications is preferred.

- Knowledge of CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar) for interpreting and preparing technical drawings.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.

- Willingness to build strong client relationships and provide solutions-oriented support.

- Enthusiasm for new business generation and growing client relationships, with support and mentoring provided.

- Valid driver's licence for field-based work.

- Willingness to travel for work.

- Team-oriented, working across departments to ensure service excellence, compliance with safety standards, and on-time project delivery.
