Professional Projects provides independent, client-side advisory, planning and delivery support for demolition, decommissioning, remediation and asset-transition projects across Australia and internationally.

We help asset owners, developers and project teams understand their options, define scope, manage risk and make informed decisions—from early closure studies and feasibility assessments through procurement, delivery and close-out.

Our focus includes mining and mineral processing assets, manufacturing facilities, power stations and energy infrastructure, chemical plants, food and beverage facilities, pulp and paper mills, fuel terminals, and bulk storage and handling facilities across Australia.

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Principal Demolition Consultant to lead consultancy assignments and help shape the continued development of Professional Projects.

The role combines practical demolition knowledge with technical advice, commercial judgement and client leadership. You will help clients establish what needs to be done, how it can be delivered safely and efficiently, and what it is likely to cost.

This is a hands-on senior role suited to someone comfortable inspecting sites, developing scopes and methodologies, preparing reports and estimates, and presenting recommendations to clients.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead closure studies, demolition feasibility assessments, options reviews and delivery planning.
- Develop demolition scopes, preliminary methodologies, sequencing strategies and constructability assessments.
- Identify project risks, including structural stability, services isolation, hazardous materials, live operations and demolition–remediation interfaces.
- Prepare and review cost estimates, programmes,



tender documentation and contractor submissions.
- Support procurement, tender evaluation, contractor selection and delivery oversight.
- Undertake site inspections and technical reviews, providing clear findings and practical recommendations.
- Coordinate specialist engineering, environmental and hazardous-materials input where required.
- Manage consultancy assignments, including scope, fees, programme, deliverables and client communication.
- Contribute to proposals, business development, client relationships and the development of internal technical standards.

Experience and Capabilities

- Substantial experience in demolition and decommissioning, including complex industrial projects.
- A background with a demolition contractor, specialist consultancy, engineering business or asset owner.
- Strong practical knowledge of demolition methods, plant capabilities, sequencing, temporary stability and site constraints.
- Sound understanding of relevant Australian safety, environmental and demolition requirements.
- Proven ability to assess scope, cost, programme, procurement and delivery risk.
- Solid report-writing skills and the ability to explain technical matters clearly.
- Confidence working independently, leading assignments and coordinating specialist contributors.
- Willingness to attend project sites and travel as required.

Qualifications Relevant qualifications in engineering, construction management or a related discipline are desirable. Substantial relevant industry experience and demonstrated technical capability will also be considered.

Professional accreditation, demolition-related qualifications and experience in client-side advisory roles would be highly regarded.
