We’re urgently seeking an experienced Senior Network Services Engineer for a contract opportunity within a major banking workplace in Sydney. This is a hands-on senior engineering role working across complex enterprise network infrastructure, with a strong focus on F5 technologies, network security, vulnerability remediation, routing and switching, firewalls, wireless networking, and enterprise troubleshooting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, configuration, implementation, security, remediation and support of critical network services within a highly regulated enterprise environment.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for

- Administering, configuring and troubleshooting F5 technologies, including LTM, GTM and BIG-IQ
- Managing Virtual Servers, Pools, Health Monitors, SSL Offloading, High Availability and F5 upgrades
- Performing network vulnerability assessment, remediation, patching and security hardening
- Investigating and remediating CVEs and network security vulnerabilities
- Configuring, deploying and maintaining switches, routers, firewalls and wireless infrastructure
- Supporting Cisco routing and switching, including OSPF, BGP, VLANs, STP, HSRP and EtherChannel
- Administering and troubleshooting Cisco ASA, Cisco FTD and Palo Alto firewalls
- Managing NAT, ACLs, security policies, logging and traffic-flow troubleshooting
- Supporting wireless environments, including WLC administration, AP onboarding and WLAN configuration
- Troubleshooting complex network performance, connectivity and security incidents
- Managing major incidents and performing root cause analysis (RCA)
- Supporting network migrations, upgrades and implementation activities




- Developing detailed implementation plans, testing procedures and rollback plans
- Working within formal change, release and CAB processes
- Performing device configuration reviews and supporting security hardening and compliance initiatives
- Working closely with Infrastructure, Cyber Security, internal stakeholders, customers and vendors
- Maintaining network diagrams, operational runbooks, SOPs, implementation plans and technical documentation
- Providing senior technical guidance throughout project and operational delivery
- Travelling to Sydney-based sites and Data Centres as required

What We’re Looking For

- Minimum 5+ years’ Network Engineering experience within large-scale enterprise environments
- Strong hands-on experience with F5 technologies, particularly LTM and GTM
- Experience with BIG-IQ, Virtual Servers, Pools, Health Monitors, SSL Offloading, HA, upgrades and troubleshooting
- Strong experience in network security and vulnerability remediation
- Experience with patching, security hardening, CVE remediation and configuration reviews
- Strong Cisco routing and switching knowledge, including OSPF, BGP, VLANs, STP, HSRP and EtherChannel
- Strong firewall experience across technologies such as Cisco ASA, Cisco FTD and Palo Alto
- Solid understanding of NAT, ACLs, security policies, logging and traffic-flow analysis
- Experience supporting enterprise wireless environments, including WLCs, APs and WLANs
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching,



VPNs and network security
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex enterprise network incidents and performing RCA
- Experience delivering network changes through structured change and release management processes
- Ability to prepare detailed implementation, testing and rollback plans
- Experience working collaboratively with Infrastructure and Cyber Security teams
- Strong documentation skills across network diagrams, runbooks, SOPs and technical implementation documentation
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience within banking, financial services or another highly regulated enterprise environment is highly regarded
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, F5, Fortinet, Palo Alto or Aruba are highly regarded
- White Card is desirable
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and Data Centres as required

This opportunity would suit a senior Network Engineer who combines robust F5 expertise with hands-on enterprise networking, security remediation and troubleshooting capability, and who is comfortable delivering critical network changes within a controlled and highly regulated environment.
