Role Summary A hands-on network engineering role providing operational and technical support for ICT networks across the Defence estate, keeping them available, performing and secure in line with Defence architecture, security policy and technical assurance frameworks. The position works in office at HMAS Harman in Canberra alongside the architects, network designers and cyber security personnel.

Security Clearance and Eligibility

- NV1 minimum
- Australian citizenship is required, non Australian applicants will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor network infrastructure, and diagnose and resolve incidents to maintain service continuity
- Implement approved changes, perform routine maintenance, apply security patches and assist with configuration updates in line with Defence standards
- Support fault isolation and troubleshooting across geographically distributed sites
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, changes and resolutions in the ITSM tool for traceability and governance
- Work with network designers, architects and cyber security teams to validate configurations, support integration activity and contribute to risk assessments




- Prepare technical documentation, including configuration guides and operational procedures, supporting service management and Defence assurance requirements

Essential Skills and Experience

- Qualifications, certifications or demonstrated experience building complex networks. (For example a Bachelor degree in information technology, or Cisco or Juniper certification such as CCNA, CCNP or JNCIP)
- Hands-on routing and switching support in enterprise or Defence networks
- The ability to work autonomously in classified, distributed and disconnected environments
- Clear technical documentation and structured troubleshooting, working to ITIL-aligned service processes

Desirable

- Familiarity with the Australian Government Information Security Manual, the ASD Essential Eight and Defence security frameworks
- ITIL Foundation or higher

Rate Range

- $125-$140/hr super inclusive
