About The Chance An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced senior Registered Nurse to join the Patient Flow Team at Manning Hospital as Patient Flow Manager.
Our Patient Flow Team plays a vital role in ensuring patients experience a safe, seamless and efficient journey through the hospital. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, the team coordinates admissions, transfers and discharges while identifying opportunities to improve patient flow and the overall care experience. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Nursing & Midwifery, you will work alongside a collaborative group of Nurse Managers and key clinical and operational teams to ensure patient flow remains responsive to the needs of patients, families and the service.
This is a Monday–Friday, morning shift position, providing the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. What You Will Be Doing
As Patient Flow Manager, you will play a key leadership role in coordinating and improving patient flow across Manning Hospital.
You Will
- Coordinate patient flow across departments using real-time information, data and proactive strategies.
- Lead daily patient flow huddles and facilitate timely, safe admissions, transfers and discharges.
- Monitor patient flow, identify emerging issues and implement timely solutions.
- Work collaboratively with senior managers, Nurse Managers, frontline staff and multidisciplinary teams.
- Engage with patients and families to support a positive and coordinated care experience.
- Identify and address barriers to timely patient movement and discharge.
- Monitor service performance and contribute to achieving relevant targets and KPIs.
- Support effective workforce and resource management.
- Provide leadership, guidance and development opportunities for staff.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives that strengthen patient flow, efficiency and quality of care.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability and patient-centred care.
About You We are looking for an experienced and motivated senior Registered Nurse who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys finding practical solutions to complex challenges.
You Will Have
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Minimum 3 years post-graduate nursing experience.
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications in clinical leadership or management, or currently undertaking relevant study.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a clinical or hospital environment.
- Strong understanding of patient flow, admissions, transfers and discharge processes.
- The ability to remain calm, adaptable and solution-focused in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to build strong, collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to respond to competing demands.
- A commitment to service excellence, continuous improvement and person-centred care.
