Role Description The PhD Research Participant will contribute to real-world testing and refinement of Bower’s research operating system by integrating the platform into their ongoing PhD research activities. On a day-to-day basis, this involves using smart glasses and related tools during experiments or fieldwork, providing structured feedback on usability and workflow integration, and participating in user interviews or study sessions. The participant will help evaluate how Bower’s technology supports documentation, collaboration,



and reproducibility in research environments, and may be asked to share anonymised examples of workflows or processes to improve product features.

This is a remote role, with flexibility to fit around existing PhD commitments and periodic virtual check-ins with the Bower team.

Qualifications

- Current enrolment in a PhD program in a scientific, engineering, medical, or related discipline, with active involvement in experimental or data-driven research.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous research, including planning experiments, collecting data, and maintaining accurate records.
- Comfort with using recent technologies and digital tools in a research setting; prior experience with lab management software, electronic lab notebooks, or wearable devices is beneficial.
- Strong observational and communication skills to provide clear, constructive feedback on product usability and research workflows.
- Interest in improving research practices around reproducibility, collaboration, and knowledge sharing; familiarity with open science or good research practices is a plus.
- Willingness to participate in user studies, surveys, and interviews, and to follow agreed protocols for data privacy and research ethics.
