About the role

Darwin Port is seeking a dedicated and experienced Port Landside Officer to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time shift rostered position based at East Arm Wharf, Darwin playing a crucial role in managing landside port operations.

As a Port Landside Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant movement of cargo within the port precinct. The position is responsible for overseeing operational activities while ensuring adherence to biosecurity, dangerous goods, maritime and Customs legislative requirements and is vital to maintain Darwin Port's reputation as a leading maritime transport hub.

Port Landside Officers operates on a 24/7 rotating shift roster working 12-hour shifts (2 day shifts, 2-night shifts, followed by 4 days off).

What we're looking for

- Experience working within a regulated operational environment, with an understanding of compliance and legislative requirements.
- Knowledge of Biosecurity Approved Arrangements (AA), International Maritime Dangerous Goods legislation, Customs Act, Permit to Work systems and emergency response procedures.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.




- Well-developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to deconflict operational activities, manage competing stakeholder interests and resolve issues between port users.
- A practical approach to identifying risks, resolving operational issues and supporting safe, efficient operations.
- The ability to work independently and respond effectively in a dynamic 24/7 operational environment.

Knowledge and understanding of the Port of Darwin is essential, and familiarity with Darwin Port facilities and operations would be highly regarded.
