Practice Lead, AI / Automation

Perth, WA | Engagement: 12 month contract

Our client, a large Perth based organisation running a significant enterprise wide AI programme, is looking for a Practice Lead, AI / Automation to identify, build and scale practical AI and automation solutions across the business, and drive measurable productivity outcomes from their AI tools.

This is a technical, hands on role suited to someone who has come up through a technical career, engineering, data, software or platform background, and has moved into AI adoption and automation leadership as that shift has become the more valuable place to apply their skills. You'll need genuine fluency in how LLMs and automation tools actually work under the hood, so you can assess workflows, design solutions, configure and integrate tools, and prove out real productivity gains, not just run workshops.

What you'll do

- Assess business workflows across teams and identify where LLM based tools, automation or RPA can realistically remove manual effort and improve output quality
- Design, configure and implement AI and automation solutions using enterprise platforms (LLM based chat tools, Copilot style tools, workflow automation and RPA platforms)
- Apply solid understanding of LLM architecture, prompt engineering, context management, RAG and model limitations to build reliable, repeatable solutions and prompt patterns
- Build technical playbooks and reusable prompt/automation templates that teams can apply directly to their own use cases
- Define and track technical usage and productivity metrics (prompt quality, task completion, tool utilisation, session data)

- Partner with professional functions (e.g. legal, finance) to map current processes, scope automation opportunities and deliver working solutions
- Provide technical troubleshooting on tool configuration, prompt performance and integration issues, escalating platform level problems where required
- Report on adoption, usage and productivity outcomes against an executive mandated target, backed by data

What you bring

- A technical background (software engineering, data engineering, platform, systems or similar) with several years hands on delivery experience before moving into AI/automation focused work
- Genuine hands on experience building or deploying AI/automation solutions, not a pure trainer, facilitator or change management background
- Robust working knowledge of generative AI and LLM concepts (prompting, context windows, model limitations, RAG, fine tuning at a conceptual level) with the ability to apply them practically
- Hands on experience with enterprise AI platforms (e.g. Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, Grok or similar) and/or workflow automation tools (e.g. Power Automate, RPA platforms, scripting/no code tooling)
- Experience scoping and delivering automation or AI use cases end to end, from workflow assessment through to working solution
- Comfortable working close to the technical detail (basic scripting, API level understanding, or low code/no code platform configuration) while still communicating clearly with non technical stakeholders
- Self directed, low supervision operator who can build and scale a technical programs.
