Data Architect / Principal Data Engineer - Databricks

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect / Principal Data Engineering who can operate as the technical second-in-command to the Data Engineering Lead, owning delivery, architecture, stakeholder engagement, and technical leadership responsibilities, while people management remains with the existing leadership team.

1. Leadership & Delivery

- Lead end-to-end data initiatives from requirements gathering and solution design through to implementation, testing, and business validation.
- Coordinate and provide technical direction to a small team of data engineers.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently, removing blockers and accelerating delivery.
- Operate with a high degree of ownership, autonomy, and accountability.

2. Stakeholder Management & Communication

- Build strong relationships with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops, gather requirements, manage expectations, and drive outcomes.
- Translate business needs into practical, scalable data solutions.
- Communicate effectively with technical teams, project managers, vendors,



and senior stakeholders.

3. Architecture & Solution Design

- Design and govern enterprise-scale data platforms, integrations, reporting, and analytics solutions.
- Provide architectural leadership and ensure solutions align with business, technical, security, and governance requirements.
- Lead architecture reviews, impact assessments, migration planning, and solution assurance activities.
- Experience with data warehousing, Lakehouse architectures, data modelling, integration patterns, and data governance.

4. Technical Expertise

- Databricks Lakehouse
- Azure Data Platform (ADF, Azure SQL)
- Microsoft Fabric
- Power BI
- Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations
- APIs, data pipelines, and reporting platforms

5. Governance, Change & Vendor Management

- Review vendor proposals, architecture recommendations, and delivery plans.
- Ensure compliance with data quality, security, lifecycle management, and operational standards.

6. AI-Enabled & Self-Service Mindset

- Effectively leverage AI tools to improve productivity, documentation, analysis, and solution delivery.
- Independently research, learn,



and understand existing systems with minimal supervision.
- Apply sound technical judgement while validating AI-assisted outputs.
