Be Bold. Belong. Be More.
At Southern Cross University, we do things differently, and so can you.
A career with us is more than you might expect. Yes, it’s about the heart, connectedness and community you’d hope for in a regional university. But there’s also so much more. Our game changing Southern Cross Model brings a deeper, focused learning experience and our research is deeply connected to our regions, making a difference on a global scale. This is your chance to help us build something new and meaningful for our students, our communities and your career. To drive change, make a real impact, and thrive in a place as unique as you.
You can be good anywhere. Here, you can be great.
Your opportunity
As our Mailroom and Stores Officer within Property Services, you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping Southern Cross University’s Lismore campus running smoothly. From receiving and distributing mail and freight to moving small office furniture, supporting campus events and maintaining organised stores, you’ll help ensure our facilities and services are ready for the people who rely on them.
This is a practical, physically active role for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in getting the job done safely and efficiently, and can work independently while contributing to a supportive team. You’ll need to think on your feet, manage competing priorities and provide helpful, professional service to a wide range of people across the University.
You will make an impact by:
- Receiving, sorting and distributing mail, freight and deliveries, and maintaining an orderly and protected central stores and mailroom environment
- Delivering, dismantling, reassembling and relocating office furniture, equipment and assets across campus, including supporting office moves and University events.
- Using computer-based systems to organise, prioritise and track work orders, deliveries and relocation tasks, ensuring jobs are completed accurately and on time.
What you will bring
You’re a reliable, practical and resourceful team member who enjoys a varied, hands-on role. You take a proactive approach to your work,
can adapt when priorities change and know how to balance getting the job done efficiently with maintaining high safety standards. You’re comfortable working autonomously, while also pitching in and supporting colleagues when needed.
To succeed in this role, you will also need:
- A current forklift licence is essential
- The physical capability and willingness to undertake manual handling, office furniture relocation including desks, chairs or empty filing cabinets, deliveries and other physically demanding duties safely
- Organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing demands and work independently
- Basic computer literacy, with the ability to use computer-based record and work order systems to manage tasks, deliveries and timelines
Though not essential, it would be advantageous to have a Medium Rigid (MR) driver’s licence or exposure to plumbing, carpentry or a related trade. If you don’t have this experience but still think you would be a great fit, we still encourage you to apply.
