The Senior Analyst – UX Lead is responsible for designing and testing user-centred solutions for the Department’s digital platform, Arc.

About the Department

The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services. The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.

About the Division

The Curriculum and Teaching Practice Division (CTPD) is responsible for developing and supporting schools to implement the department's teaching and learning policies and providing curriculum implementation guidance to Victorian government schools.

CTPD draws on contemporary research and practice evidence to develop evidence-based teaching and learning policy reforms, co-design and implement initiatives to support schools to deliver high-quality teaching programs. CTPD has primary responsibility for providing advice and implementation support to government schools to deliver the Victorian Curriculum.

CTPD currently has four branches:

1. Teaching and Learning Resources
2. Curriculum and Professional Practice
3. Literacy and Languages
4. Mathematics, Science and Digital Learning

Across these branches, the key functions include:

- developing and communicating policies and guidance in areas such as curriculum planning, pedagogy, assessment and reporting, curriculum implementation (including languages education, Holocaust education, literacy instruction, mathematics and numeracy education), and artificial intelligence
- developing lesson plans and other classroom teaching and learning resources to support the implementation of departmental pedagogical settings and F-10 curriculum
- designing and delivering high-quality professional learning to build teachers' professional expertise in key pedagogical and curriculum areas
- developing and managing the Arc Platform and implementing high-quality teaching and learning software
- fostering student, family and community engagement through programs like the Premiers' Reading Challenge, Books in Prep Bags, and community language school

About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Analyst – UX Lead to join the Arc Platform Unit in the Mathematics,



Science and Digital Learning Branch at the Department of Education. This is a full-time, fixed-term role until 30 June 2028, with the successful applicant starting in January 2027.

About Arc

Arc (https://arc.educationapps.vic.gov.au/home) is at the beginning of a planned 3-year transition from the current legacy .NET platform to a future CMS-based solution. The focus in 2026–27 is on discovery, planning and requirements development, while ensuring the existing platform remains fit-for-purpose and continues to support departmental goals and priorities.

Key responsibilities:

The Senior Analyst – UX Lead is responsible for designing and testing user-centred solutions for the Department's digital platform, Arc. The role works closely with the Unit Manager, Business Analyst, Product Manager, project leads and development team to understand user needs and translate them into intuitive, accessible and effective digital experiences.

A key aspect of the role is leading the user acceptance testing (UAT) process, including coordinating testers, managing test plans and schedules, and liaising with developers to ensure the intended design is implemented accurately.

Responsibilities include:

- Designing accessible, user-friendly interfaces for complex content.
- Applying human-centred design and usability testing methods.
- Facilitating collaborative workshops with stakeholders.
- Producing wireframes and interactive prototypes in Figma, and validating them with users.
- Leading UAT by planning tests, managing testers, documenting bugs, and working with developers to resolve defects.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

- Experience in a UX or digital design role with a focus on user-centred design, usability testing, and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience leading user acceptance testing (UAT), including test planning, execution, and defect management.
- Demonstrated experience working on large or complex web platforms in a government or similarly regulated environment.
- Proficiency in Figma for prototyping and interface design (required).
- Experience using Jira for managing workflows, user stories, and testing (strongly desired).
- Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and a commitment to inclusive design.
- Experience contributing to multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with business analysts, product managers, developers, and content designers.
