About the role

As a Function Manager, you'll receive the event brief from our Sales and Coordination teams and own its execution on the evening. You are the bridge between the client and our floor team: you lead the staff, and you are the client's direct point of contact from bump-in to bump-out. If the client needs something, they come to you, and you make it happen. Full-time and part time positions are available both day and evening.

Key responsibilities

- Receive and thoroughly review the event brief (run sheet, floor plan, dietary and access requirements, AV, suppliers and client contacts) and clarify any gaps with the Sales and Coordination teams before the event.

- Brief the floor team, kitchen, security and any suppliers before doors open so that everyone understands the timings, service style and client expectations.

- Check the room set-up, presentation and readiness against the brief ahead of guest arrival.

- Act as the client's direct correspondent on the night: meet and greet the client on arrival, confirm the run of the evening and remain their go-to contact throughout.

- Anticipate needs, manage changes and requests on the fly, and think of practical solutions that satisfy the client while protecting the venue's standards and licence.

- Manage guest and client expectations professionally and diplomatically, including handling complaints and escalating to the Venue Manager or Sales where required.

- Lead, direct and support the front-of-house team, allocating positions, running pre-shift briefings and maintaining pace and standards throughout service.





- Uphold the Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) at all times, including refusal of service, minors and intoxication, and ensure the team does the same.

- Follow and enforce policies for WHS, risk management, emergency and evacuation procedures, and complete incident reports promptly and accurately.

- Complete a post-event report covering timings, issues, client feedback and opportunities for improvement, and feed this back to the Venue Manager and Head of Venues (Sales).

About you

- Proven experience in a function, events, banquet or high-volume food and beverage service environment, with demonstrated experience leading a team on the floor.

- Current NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate.

- Confident, polished communicator who can deal with clients directly and calmly under pressure.

- Ability to work at a fast pace, think on your feet and solve problems in real time.

- Excellent people leadership, time management and organisational skills.

- Exceptional attention to detail, including the ability to work from a written brief and run sheet.

- Experience with end-of-function and shift reconciliations.

- Availability for evenings, weekends and public holidays, in line with our event calendar.

- Full working rights in Australia.
