About the Role

As the Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the State Library's financial records and reporting, ensuring compliance with legislative, Treasury and accounting requirements. You will play a key role in delivering accurate financial information that supports sound decision-making and strong financial governance across the organisation.

Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, you will manage a broad range of financial accounting activities, including month-end and year-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger management, taxation compliance, Treasury reporting and statutory financial reporting. You will oversee the preparation and review of key financial reports, ensure the accuracy of financial data, and support internal and external audit processes.

Key responsibilities include:

- Managing month-end financial accounting processes, including accruals, prepayments, fixed asset accounting, depreciation and reconciliations.

- Monitoring and reviewing financial controls, balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger integrity.

- Overseeing the preparation and submission of GST, Payroll Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax returns.

- Preparing Treasury and statutory reporting,



including monthly reporting, forward estimates and annual financial statements.

- Supporting internal and external audit activities and ensuring compliance with reporting obligations

About you

You are a qualified accounting professional with a strong background in financial accounting, statutory compliance, and financial reporting. You have demonstrated experience managing complex financial processes and reconciliations, preparing accurate reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and government requirements.

You bring excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, investigate variances, and provide practical solutions. Your attention to detail and commitment to data integrity enable you to manage large volumes of financial information while maintaining high levels of accuracy.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Accounting, or a related discipline.

- CPA or CA membership (or equivalent professional qualification).

- Demonstrated experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting, and taxation compliance.

- Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, the Government Sector Finance Act 2018, and NSW Treasury reporting requirements.

- Experience preparing financial reports, reconciliations, journals, and month-end processes.

- Robust organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and reporting deadlines.

- A commitment to continuous improvement, and collaborative working relationships.
