About the role

Metal Fabricators/Welders perform metal fabrication and welding tasks according to specifications and blueprints. The role involves operating welding equipment and tools to join, fabricate, and repair metal components, as well as preparing and checking wheel components for service.

Key responsibilities

- Perform metal fabrication and welding tasks according to specifications and blueprints

- Check wheel components for wear, corrosion, cracking, or other damage which may have occurred during prolonged service

- Remove centre nave plates using CNC lathe, and fit new nave plate in preparation for welding

- Prepare wheels for welding

- Carry out full in-house NDT testing of wheels using magnetic particle testing as per safety regulations

- Fit OTR valving to wheels, including small, large, and super large valve assemblies, depending on wheel size and requirements

- Read and interpret technical drawings and plans

- Ensure quality control and accuracy in all fabrication and welding processes

- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines

- Maintain a clean and safe work environment

About you

- AQF Certificate III or equivalent or relevant experience

- Minimum 3 years experience





- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and also as part of a team

- Excellent communication and time management skills

- Ability to follow all company OH&S; policies and procedures

- Able to shift gears in a high paced environment and respond quickly to the requirements of the position
