Medical Laboratory Assistant

Full-Time and Part-Time Opportunities | Northmead, NSW

Austpath is seeking reliable and motivated Medical Laboratory Assistants to join our pathology team in Northmead.

We are recruiting across both laboratory and patient-facing functions and are particularly interested in candidates who are willing to be trained across several areas of the practice.

About the role

Depending on experience and training, responsibilities may include:

- Assisting with Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy (FNAB) clinics, including patient preparation, coordination and procedural support

- Reception duties and appointment scheduling

- Accurate entry of patient, clinician and specimen information into the laboratory information system

- Specimen reception, identification, accessioning and processing

- Assisting with laboratory workflow, including preparation and support for specimens

- Preparation of documentation and assistance with pathology reporting workflows

- Communication with medical practitioners, hospitals, clinics, and other pathology providers

- General laboratory and administrative duties as required

Comprehensive training will be provided for the appropriate candidate.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

- Has excellent attention to detail and accuracy

- Is reliable,



organised and able to follow established procedures

- Communicates professionally with patients, medical practitioners and colleagues

- Has accurate keyboard and data-entry skills

- Is comfortable working with computer-based systems

- Works well both independently and as part of a team

Hours

Austpath operates Monday to Friday, with rostered hours falling between approximately 7:30 am and 6:30 pm.

Both full-time and part time arrangements may be considered. Saturday work may be available or required after appropriate training.

For more than 20 years, Austpath has provided specialist anatomical pathology services across New South Wales. Our purpose-built laboratory at 197 Briens Road, Northmead, is close to the Westmead health precinct and provides a modern, well-equipped working environment with on-site staff parking.
