We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join a well-established and busy basement and concrete construction business in Melbourne. This is a hands-on estimating role suited to someone who is comfortable taking an prospect from initial enquiry through to quotation and successful project handover.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

- Review & interpret documentation including drawings, specifications and schedules to prepare accurate estimates.

- Complete detailed quantity and material take-offs for concrete, reinforcement, formwork, excavation and labour.

- Assess project scope, construction methodology, access constraints and other factors that may affect pricing.

- Prepare and issue RFIs to clients, engineers, architects and other consultants to clarify project requirements before pricing.

- Maintain accurate enquiry, estimating and quotation databases.

- Manage quotation revisions and respond to client queries during the quoting process.

- Assist with value-management options and alternative construction solutions where appropriate.

- Follow up submitted quotations and maintain communication with prospective clients.

- Lead project handover meetings with the construction team to ensure scope, assumptions, exclusions, risks, client requirements and pricing considerations are clearly communicated.

- Maintain organised estimating records and contribute to the ongoing improvement of estimating systems, templates and cost information.

About You

We are looking for someone with demonstrated estimating experience within civil construction. Experience in basements,



piling & concrete structures or civil/structural works would be particularly valuable.

You will need:

• Strong ability to read and interpret drawings.

• Demonstrated construction estimating and quantity take-off experience.

• Good understanding of construction methodology and sequencing.

• Strong numerical and analytical skills.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Commercial awareness and the ability to identify scope gaps and pricing risks.

• Strong written communication skills

• Confidence communicating with internal and external stakeholders.

• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

• Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.

• A practical, proactive approach and the confidence to ask questions when documentation or scope is unclear.

Experience with Cubit estimating software is preferred but not essential, with training available for the right candidate.
