THE ROLE

Inspire a lifelong love of movement, health and wellbeing at Ipswich Junior Grammar School. We are seeking an enthusiastic Health and Physical Education Teacher to deliver engaging learning experiences for students from Prep to Year 6. Reporting to the Head of HPE and Sport (Junior), you will build students’ confidence, skills and enjoyment through high-quality physical education and health programs.

This is an opportunity to make movement meaningful. You will create a safe and inclusive environment where every student is encouraged to participate, develop physical literacy and understand the value of healthy, active living.

Key responsibilities include:





- Plan and deliver engaging Health and Physical Education programs aligned with the Australian Curriculum and School frameworks.
- Develop students’ physical literacy, movement skills, teamwork and understanding of healthy, active living.
- Create safe, inclusive and well-managed learning environments that encourage every student to participate and succeed.
- Assess and report on student progress and use evidence to support skill development and engagement.
- Contribute to carnivals, sporting activities and the wider co-curricular life of the Junior School.

ABOUT YOU

You are an energetic and inclusive educator who can motivate young learners of all abilities. You bring enthusiasm, sound professional judgement and a genuine commitment to helping students develop confidence, teamwork and healthy habits. You’ll bring:

- Experience teaching Health and Physical Education to primary-aged students.
- Robust knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and contemporary approaches to physical literacy, health and wellbeing.
- The ability to design inclusive, engaging and appropriately challenging programs for students with diverse abilities.
- Excellent organisation, risk awareness and behaviour management skills in practical learning environments.
- Warm, clear and effective communication and relationship-building skills.
- Eligibility for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers and unrestricted working rights in Australia.
