How does this apply?

We are on the hunt for an experienced Legal Counsel to join our team in a full-time, permanent capacity, providing premium, varied legal and commercial advice across NOVA Entertainment’s national footprint.
This role brings Unwavering Unity to life by partnering with stakeholders across the NOVA Entertainment group to deliver practical, commercially minded legal advice that supports robust governance, smart decision-making and responsible growth.

In practice this looks like:

- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, with primary responsibility for podcast agreements, contra agreements, sponsorships and partnerships, campaign service agreements, and digital and technology service agreements.
- Owning and progressing mid-risk legal matters from instruction to completion, maintaining visibility of risks, stakeholders, deadlines and next steps.
- Supporting the Head of Legal on strategic partnerships, disputes, high-risk matters and commercial agreements outside the Legal Counsel’s allocated portfolio.
- Supporting the Head of Legal and Company Secretary with corporate governance and regulatory matters as required, while taking responsibility for allocated compliance matters, including Modern Slavery compliance.
- Supporting the Head of Legal and relevant technology and digital stakeholders on privacy, data, digital products and information security matters.
- Supervising and reviewing work allocated to the Paralegal, including confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, trade promotion documents, complaints triage, research, record keeping and administrative support.




- Advising on escalated complex or non-standard trade promotions.

- Building effective, trusted relationships with stakeholders across multiple functions, balancing legal risk with commercial outcomes.
- Using sound judgement to provide clear, practical advice in a fast-paced and evolving media environment, and escalating material or high-risk matters at the right time.
- Bringing a proactive and solutions-focused approach to allocated commercial transactions, compliance matters and day-to-day legal work.
- Producing accurate, well-considered work that reflects instructions, identifies practical next steps and requires minimal correction.
- Communicating with clarity, confidence and care across written advice, negotiations, policies and stakeholder conversations.
- Demonstrating Relentless Curiosity by building knowledge of NOVA’s products, the media industry and emerging legal and regulatory issues.

Skills that help you succeed in this role:

- Qualified to practise law in Australia, with approximately four to six years’ post-qualification experience.
- Solid commercial contracting experience, with relevant exposure to intellectual property, digital, privacy and data, compliance and corporate legal matters.
- Experience managing a broad portfolio of matters and stakeholder relationships using a practical and commercial mindset.
- Ability to manage competing priorities,



shifting deadlines and time pressures without compromising accuracy or quality.
- Excellent written, verbal, drafting and negotiation skills, with in-house media, entertainment, advertising or technology experience preferred but not essential.
