About the roles

SRA is seeking multiple experienced Full Stack Developers to join a long-term application sustainment and modernisation program. Candidates can be based anywhere in Australia, with flexible remote working arrangements available.

You will support business-critical applications across legacy and contemporary technology environments. The work includes enhancing and maintaining Java applications, resolving technical issues, improving security and maintainability, and supporting migration to Azure-based hosting. Some applications include Perl components, so exposure to Perl or a willingness to work with it would be beneficial.

These roles suit hands-on developers who enjoy working across the full software development lifecycle and are comfortable working with both modern and legacy technologies.

Key responsibilities

- Design, develop, enhance and support enterprise web applications across front-end, back-end and database layers

- Analyse and modernise existing application code, configurations and integrations

- Develop, maintain and remediate Java and Spring Boot applications

- Work with legacy application components, including some Perl-based code

- Support application migration and uplift activities in Azure environments

- Build and maintain REST APIs, user interfaces, database integrations, scripts and deployment artefacts

- Undertake unit, integration, regression and defect testing

- Support system testing, user acceptance testing and production releases





- Troubleshoot application issues and undertake defect remediation

- Prepare technical documentation, deployment notes and operational procedures

- Support knowledge-transfer and operational-handover activities

- Collaborate with technical, business and vendor stakeholders

Essential requirements

- Australian citizenship

- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance

- Ability to provide a National Police Check completed within the previous three months, or obtain one before commencement

- Strong enterprise application development experience using Java

- Experience with Spring Boot and REST API development

- Experience working across front-end, back-end, integration and database layers

- Experience supporting and maintaining production applications

- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Highly regarded

- Exposure to Perl or similar scripting languages

- Experience with Apache Struts

- Experience with SQL and database integration

- Experience with Azure App Service, containers or other Azure-hosted application patterns

- Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub and CI/CD pipelines

- Experience modernising or migrating legacy applications

- Knowledge of secure coding, testing and release-management practices

- Experience working in Commonwealth Government or other large enterprise environments

Engagement details

- Initial contract term of 12 months

- One extension option of up to a further 12 months

- Full-time engagement of up to 40 hours per week

- Proposed commencement in early October 2026

- Remote working arrangements available, with occasional office attendance required based on business and team needs
