About the role

Virtual CTO is seeking an experienced Senior UI/UX App Designer to join our growing team on a contract basis. This is an exciting prospect to shape the digital experiences for innovative applications in a fast-paced environment. Based in Sydney NSW 2000, this role offers the chance to work with cutting-edge design principles and modern design tools. You will take a strategic approach to user interface and user experience design, ensuring that every interaction is intuitive, engaging and aligned with business objectives. As a senior designer, you will play a pivotal role in establishing design standards and driving the creative vision of our digital products.

Key responsibilities

- Design and develop user interfaces and user experiences for mobile and web applications, ensuring consistency with brand guidelines and design systems

- Conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions and validate design concepts

- Create wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity mockups using industry-standard design tools

- Collaborate closely with product managers, developers and stakeholders to translate requirements into compelling design solutions

- Establish and maintain design patterns, component libraries and design documentation for ongoing use across projects

- Provide design leadership and mentorship to junior designers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation

- Participate in design reviews and present design rationale to cross-functional teams

- Stay current with emerging design trends, technologies and best practices in UI/UX design





- Optimise user journeys and interface interactions to enhance user satisfaction and product engagement

What we're looking for

- 4+ years of professional experience in UI/UX design or interaction design, with a portfolio demonstrating expertise in app design

- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch or similar industry-standard software

- Strong understanding of user-centred design principles, design thinking and usability best practices

- Proven experience with user research methodologies, wireframing, prototyping and user testing

- Excellent visual design skills with a keen eye for typography, colour theory, layout and visual hierarchy

- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate design concepts effectively

- Experience with design systems, component libraries and design documentation

- Knowledge of responsive and adaptive design principles for multiple platforms and devices

- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to balance user needs with business objectives

- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices is desirable

- Experience with agile development methodologies is highly valued
